So it finally happened, the first big snowfall of the season bringing in the holiday cheer and a reason for the families to enjoy the day in abode of their home, sipping on warm tea or coffee and just chilling out.
Although the hype for the biggest snowfall of the decade in the Washington DC area was already built up, me and my family was genuinely awaiting for it, not because since it was on a weekend, but because, it was so close to Christmas day that the desire of a White XMas was nearly going to be fulfilled.
I woke up at about 2 AM in the night and saw an even coat of snow depositing on the roads and the white pick up truck of my neighbor, who apparently forgot to park inside his garage. I had done my due diligence in making sure that both our cars were neatly parked in the garage to be saved from the wrath of white snow.
The day started with my son waking me up only to go outside in the snow which by 9 AM was falling at nearly 1 feet per hour. I glanced outside of kitchen and could hardly see the snowman that has been making my neighbor proud since last 10 days. It was covered in all snow and the real meaning of snowman was realized. I took my son, packed him in 3-3 layers of warm clothing, mittens, hat and his snow boots and dressed myself up warmly as well. I got my snow shovel and started cleaning the walkway, entrance to my house so that we could barely make out in worst case scenario.
My son was simply enjoying his first biggest snowstorm of his life and the joy on his face was clearly visible. We took turns throwing ice balls at each other while my dear wife simply watched us from inside the warmth of the house. She couldn't dare to come out and have some fun. Finally she did make out to click some pictures for us while drenching herself in the white powdery gift from Santa. With snow comes the desire to eat spicy and hot food. We ensured the previous day that our stocks for food were complete and we were ready for the worst case scenario of being snowed out in case grocery stores were closed. We enjoyed the spicy Indian food along with tea many a times. Samosas did make the menu of snacks after being teased by one of our cousin from Texas.
The night has finally fallen over and it's still snowing. I can now barely see the grill in my backyard and the patio set has a stack of nearly 3 feet of snow on top of it. We'll go back to our bed with the warm memories of a snowy day that will be with us for the rest of our lives.
Only If the snow had fallen on a weekday instead of weekend, I would have spent more time with my son and wife watching movies and sipping on hot coffee along with more Samosas. I hope my XMas wish comes true.
Let it snow... Let it snow...!!

Wow! sounds so much exciting... Where's the snow man?
Welcome to the brotherhood and neighborhood too :)
Surely it is a big event for Virginians to have such a nasty snowfall. I hope it is the last of this kind for the season there at least (even if I wish this for Chicago, it wont come true).
Enjoy !!!
